Things I wish I would have known 6 weeks ago....

*Warning... this post is not very well-written, as I really just need to vent a bit, if that's ok. :)

No fun pictures today---just a "funny" little story to add to this journey we are on. :)

So, we received word from CIS today (after 6+ weeks of glorious waiting) that the marriage certificate we gave them was not "official."  We would need to send a state-certified document in order for them to approve our paperwork.   (We had sent the "pretty" marriage certificate you get on your wedding day--- you know the one that your Maid of Honor and Best Man get to sign???  Guess that doesn't count, just so you know from now on.)

Of course I got this email about 20 minutes before my day started with my lovely freshmen students, so I frantically called Nate, our adoption consultant, and who-knows-who-else to try and figure out how the heck to get this piece of paper into the hands of the Louisville office TODAY (because I don't believe in pacing myself--ever... ).

Long story short... we were able to get a faxed copy of the document from our super-awesome adoption consultant (who has all of our dossier paperwork at her office--remember the pretty picture with the gold seals???).  Then, after work, I flew to the FedEx place to see my FedEx buddy again (remember the other picture???), and he helped me get that puppy off safe and sound!  Should be in the hands of CIS by tomorrow.  (P.S.  found out later that the office is closed on Wednesdays... that makes the story even funnier)

So... according to the email, we should have our I 171H (that's the fancy name for "approval letter") within a week of them receiving the document.   WHOO-HOOO!!!!!  Hopefully, that means by the end of next week (8 weeks of waiting... hmmm... that sounds familiar... maybe I should have listened a long time ago when someone told me "up to 8 weeks") we will have the GOLDEN TICKET. :)

And that, my friends, is just ONE day in the life of Stefany Head. :)  Gotta love this journey.  Never boring, and ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to do on your own--isn't that what HE intended after all? Hmm... why do I have to learn these things the hard way.  You'd think I'd get it by now.  :)

Thanks for listening, and you can look forward to pictures of the I 171H approval dance--soon to come!
