Stopped at the Frankfurt, Germany airport-- totally pooped, but seriously excited!!!
On this day last year, Nate and I were making our way through a 24-hour trip to Ethiopia!!!
After driving all night long to make it back to Lexington for our AM flight, Nate and I left Bluegrass Airport and headed to Charleston to catch our connecting flight to Germany, and then on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia! Both international flights were about 8-9 hours (easy, minus the kiddo--not so easy on the way home with the kiddo). :)
I remember on this day last year feeling like I was dreaming. Yes, a lack of sleep will definitely put your brain in a deep fog, but I literally felt like my feet were walking around on clouds, like at any second someone was going to pinch me and say, "Wake up! It's just a dream!"
I just couldn't believe that we were finally on our way to Jordan!!!!!
One of my favorite memories from our travel day was finding out that our luggage was going to cost us like an extra $3,000 to get to Ethiopia. Now, at the time, this was NOT FUNNY, but looking back on the situation, it's rather humorous. We ended up only having to spend an extra $300 (or so) on luggage, but by that point, I probably would have emptied my entire savings account just to get to Jordan . . . seriously.
So, because Ethiopia is 7 (maybe 8) hours ahead of our time, we don't really get to Ethiopia until tomorrow NIGHT, so we don't meet Jordan until the 26th . . . so, there may be a lull in my blogging tomorrow. Just know that we were still "en route." :)
Thanks for reminiscing with us! If you see me this week, you'll probably notice that I'm an emotional mess, thinking back on how amazing this trip was and how thankful we are for our sweet gift!
