Happy Spring Break (to myself and anyone else living here)!
So, I have to share this really funny story about my students. My 3rd period class (Accelerated English 9) is hilarious. They are known for breaking out into song (that they have prepared ahead of time), coming up with silly rhymes, and writing stories about how I should go bald. They are a very unique group, to say the least. :)
Well, a couple of days ago, my timer went missing. This is the timer that I carry around with me EVERYWHERE, because 9th grade needs a lot of structure (and I am obsessive compulsive about keeping on schedule). So, we use the timer to set group discussion times, to "transition" between activities, etc. Well, the timer disappeared . . . after 3rd period on Wednesday.
I knew the class was responsible, but after questioning several, it was obvious that NO ONE WAS GOING TO BUDGE. So, I gave up on the timer, decided to get a new one over Spring Break, and chalked it up as a "dumb" move on my part to let the timer out of my sight. :)
Until today....
We were practicing some scenes from Romeo and Juliet in our school's auditorium, when a "package" was delivered to me from the front office. This package consisted of a tubber wear bowl full of red jello with a note (from Shakespeare) on top referring to "wasting time." The note invited me to dig through the jello to find my missing timer. Wrapped in a plastic bag in the center of the jello was my timer... yes, my precious, stolen timer. IT WAS HILARIOUS. (For those of you who are OFFICE fans, this is even funnier.)
So, needless to say, this event was captured on one of my student's camera phones, and I'm sure everyone and their brother will see this timer-story unfold, but it was the FUNNIEST thing that has happened to me so far in teaching. It was PRICELESS.
Just wanted to share! Teaching is never boring! Thanks to my 3rd period class, I was able to laugh my way through the last day before Spring Break!
Update: Our home study has been sent to Immigration for approval, so please pray with us for a quick turnaround! We are so excited!!!!
