MELKAM ADIS AMET!!!!!

Just want to take a second to brag on my brilliant niece, Halle, who received "Student of the Month" at school this month!  Congratulations, Miss Halle!

Happy Ethiopian New Year!

Today marks the first day of 2001 for the country of Ethiopia.  The country goes by the Julian calendar, in which the year is divided into 12 months of 30 days, plus a 13th month of 5 days (6 days in the leap year).  So, the Ethiopian calendar is 8 years behind the Gregorian calendar from January to September and 7 years behind between September 11th and January 8th.  I love learning all of these super-interesting things about our little man's amazing birth country!  (Thank you, Sharon at CHI, for this information!)

So . . . Happy New Year!  I think (haven't heard an "official" word, but . . . ) a family may have received a referral for a little boy today, so especially HAPPY NEW YEAR to them!   Celebrate!

You are so cute! I used you in class today to write a descriptive paragraph about a person (modeling for the kiddos) and one of the things I wrote was that you were adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia. You cannot imagine how many conversations were then had. :) One little girl said that she already loved you because you were adopting a child from that country and that was awesome. :) How cute! Thanks, Stef.
