Last night, the craziest thing happened.
I was reading through an incredible book entitled There is no me without you. I read the book before traveling to Ethiopia, but on this side of things, it is so much more real. Please, if you like to read in any way, check it out.
So, I'm reading, and the author starts listing the Ethiopian names of some children that she met in one of the orphanages in Ethiopia. She was listing their names and then telling the Ethiopian meaning for each name, describing how beautiful each child was, despite their (seemingly) destitute situation. As she was describing these children, I could just see their sweet faces, their beautiful almond-shaped brown eyes, and just the joy that must have been in their hearts as someone called each of them by name.
and then I read this . . .
. . . Bizunesh (meaning You Will Become Much) . . .
Bizunesh was the name of one of the children she had met in the orphanage, and the author was commenting on how sweet it was that her parents had chosen such a valuable name for her.
I nearly had a heart attack.
For those of you that know us well, you already know Jordan's middle name is Bezuneh, the masculine form of his birth mother's name, Bezunesh (I's and E's in Amharic tend to be interchangeable, just so you know).
We had been told that "bezu" meant "plentiful, much of," which we thought was very appropriate for our plentifully-pudgy baby boy. :)
We had no idea that this name actually means "You Will Become Much."
I'm not even sure where to go from here. I am sitting on my couch, even now, with tears in my eyes thinking on how beautiful this name is, both for Jordan, and for his amazing birth mother.
You will become much, Jordan Bezuneh Head. You will become much because Jesus loves you and has a great plan for your life, to His great glory.
And to Jordan's sweet birth mother who gave her very last breath for our sweet Jordan, we want to honor you, Bezunesh, because you have become much, bearing a beautiful baby boy who is making you very, very proud. :) We are so very blessed by you, dear Bezunesh.

Nate & Stefany: That is an awesome story. There is a lot to a name and this is a fantastic one. Keep living a better story.
I'm bawling right now. I can't tell you how many times I've thanked God for the "big things" Jordan will do for HIS kingdom!
wow- that is beautiful! I got goose bumps and tears in my eyes when I read this. Yes, your precious Jordan will "become much" because he has such wonderful, Godly parents who will raise him to be a wonderful, Godly man! I am so glad that I was able to be a small part of your adoption journey and am so happy that I can keep up with you on this blog.
