Time for some new wallpaper

I wanted to steal an analogy I heard a few weeks ago and share it with you all...

Does your mind need a re-wallpapering job? Do you find yourself struggling with annoying things like worry, greed, lust, pride, fear, and doubt? I do!!!!

I think it might be time for us (if you want to participate) to put up some new wallpaper in our minds, instead of the lies that our world has helped us to believe.

(Think of it this way: Picture that country-blue, goose wallpaper that your mom had in the kitchen when you were growing up. Time for that to go, go, go!!!! Sorry to any of you who still enjoy the country-blue de core.)

So, here are some TRUTH statements that we can plaster on the walls of our minds, just like Paul challenged us to do in Romans 2.

"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind...."

1. Lie: My sin is too great for God to use me.
TRUTH: "I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." (Mark 2:17)

2. Lie: This _______ (you fill in the blank) is too scary/risky. I'll let someone else do that, while I stick with what "fits" my personality more.
TRUTH: "I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed but will have sufficient courage, so that now as always, Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death." (Phil. 1:20)

3. Lie: This ______ (you fill in the blank) is NEVER going to end!!!! I give up!
TRUTH: "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." (Romans 12:2)

4. Lie: Jesus can't REALLY save me. I'm too much of a mess . . . and I have a feeling I will continue to battle sin all the rest of my days . . .
TRUTH: "He is able to save COMPLETELY those who come to God through Him (Jesus) because he always lives to intercede for them." (Hebrews 7:25)

5. Lie: This _______ (you fill in the blank) is too BIG, too impossible, too expensive! There's no way we will ever have the means/resources/guts to do such a thing....
TRUTH: Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-11. Pretty powerful promise from God. I love that He is all about spreading His fame, even in financial situations.... so cool.

I hope you are encouraged by these TRUTHS from God's Word. I don't know about you, but sometimes, I just need a day of spring cleaning. Today was one of those days! :)

Love you all!

Lots of memories go along with that "goose" theme!
Thanks for your challenging words--today has been one of those "humble before God times"--got some housecleaning to do here--all good!
