Jordan and I are excited to let you know that we are running for our friends at Kebron again! A couple of years ago, we partnered with you to run and raise funds for each of these students in Ethiopia to have a new school uniform. Thank you for helping us reach that goal! That was AMAZING!!!!
This April 30 (half marathon for Stef) and May 1 (5K for Jordan), we hope to cross our finish lines with Kebron in mind once again. With your help, we would love to raise funds for the much-needed bathroom that will be built at the new Kebron Carepoint. Please read the excerpt below, describing this fundraising need in 2016:
"Kebron Carepoint is located in Modjo, Ethiopia. Children’s HopeChest has been providing care at Kebron since 2010 when there were only 11 children attending. There are now almost 75 children being served at Kebron!
The children are served by receiving monthly food provisions, medical care, discipleship training and school fees, supplies and uniforms. We have had 5 of our children graduate from high school and now attend University. In addition to these students, there have also been 3 of the children who have graduated high school as a local trade school. They are now employed! These are huge success stories of the difference sponsorship makes in a child’s life. The cycle of poverty and despair has been broken for them.
Kebron Carepoint has recently moved from the location where they started to a local church, Ethiopian Guenet Church. We are excited about this new partnership with a local church body. Unfortunately the new location does not have any restroom facilities. Not having access to a sanitary restroom can cause significant health risks to the children. Diseases can be easily transmitted from the lack of a proper restroom facility. Our goal is to be able to provide the funds to construct a proper restroom for the children." --Kristin, Kebron Carepoint Rep. in Lexington

Our sweet friend, Abenezer, sporting his shirt that Jordan picked out for him (Summer 2015)
Our training officially started this past week, and Jordan's doing awesome! He loves telling his running buddies and classmates why he is training and also about his friend, Abenezer. There's nothing like telling your friends that you're running for the potty! :)
We would love for you to follow our training journey! I will continue to post pictures and updates as we go along. Please also prayerfully consider partnering financially with us, as we hope to raise $1,000 for the bathroom construction at Kebron Carepoint. Any amount you may want to contribute is incredibly helpful... from $1 to $100. We would be so honored to cross our finish lines in April and May with your prayers and partnership!
Please email me at shead@lexingtonchristian.org if you are interested in contributing financially to Kebron's bathroom construction project.
Thank you, friends!
